Flowers & Botanicals

Flowers & Botanicals
By John Kasinger

The world of plants is a magical one and Datura is one of my favorites. The blossoms are 8 inches long and 6 inches across. It blooms at night, requires little water and is a weed. Oh, but what a weed. Long famous in American Indian lore as an hallucinogenic. Cattle won’t come within several feet of it. On top of all of that it is most beautiful and has a fresh lemony scent. I have grown it for years and photograph it often.

The Pitcher plant is carnivorious and is a plant that derives some or most of their nutrients from trapping and consuming insects and other arthropods. The structure of the Pitcher plant and all it’s variations has always fascinated me.
